An alternative is to use a commercial DI box which can accept speaker signals, such as this Rupert Whether using a combo amp or a head with a speaker cabinet, the DI box will take its input from the power amp output (the output is usually connected to the speaker). Well I replaced the 470r with 470k and works perfectly now, tested it between amp and speaker Point well taken though on why sticking an effect directly between the amp and speaker wouldn't be so wise.
